Geraldine’s son Greg was a steel worker working on the construction of the processing plant at the Diavik Diamond Mines in the Northwest Territories.

In 2001 without warning, the man-lift he and his partner were on started to sway and toppled over backwards, sending them to the rocks below. He was 28 years old.
